Tennis season underway, as first matches have taken place

The Badger tennis team played host to Fredericksburg on Wednesday morning, and Lampasas played Marble Falls at home on Thursday. Today, the team will compete against Killeen High School.

High jumper competes at finals in Junior Olympics

The AAU Junior Olympics were held from July 29 through Aug. 5 in Des Moines, Iowa, where a young Badger finished seventh in the high jump against 16 competitors from across the country. Vion Miller is 9 years old.

The Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming – the biggest and oldest rodeo in the world – is an event every roper, rider and racer hopes to win at least once during their rodeo career. Now, a young man from Lampasas can say he has accomplished just that.

Four Badgers compete in junior golf tour championship

The West Texas Junior Champions Tour hosted its annual Tour Championship last month, and three Badgers and one Lady Badger all played in the two-day event. Peyton Spore, Nick Haas and James Clarkson competed in the Boys 1518 division, where Spore finished fifth with scores of 76-74-150.

Practice for fall sports underway this week

As Monday came around, so did the official start of practices for fall sports for the 2023 season. From cross country to tennis and golf, and from volleyball to football, Badger athletes hit the field, court, course or trail this week to kick off their new seasons.

Lampasas resident wins at annual Calgary Stampede

A woman who has been barrel racing for years and lives in Lampasas while she isn’t on the road recently finished in first place at the huge Calgary Stampede rodeo earlier in July. Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi won $50,000 for the victory. She posted a run of 17.

Last week, Lampasas High School football held its annual three-day summer camp for seventh-, eighthand ninth-grade students. Offensive Coordinator TJ Cleavinger said the camp was all about improving at the fundamentals.

Badgers to Wildcats: How three Lampasas grads won a college national championship

In October, the 1973 NAIA national championshipwinning Abilene Christian football team will celebrate the 50th anniversary of earning that title. That team included an NFL All-Pro at running back, a quarterback who played for the Dallas Cowboys and three former Lampasas Badgers.
