Soccer team comes up short in battle with Brownwood

The Badger soccer team started district play against Brownwood at home last Friday night. They played a tough 80 minutes, but lost 2-0. “There were glimpses and flashes of good play that we know, but we just didn’t sustain that play,” head coach Samuel Burnside said.

A trip to Lago Vista was the second consecutive district road game for the Badgers, who are in the middle of a stretch where they play four of five games away from home.

The Lady Badger middle school basketball teams played against Lago Vista last week, and they went 4-0 in those games. The LMS seventh grade “B” team won 31-14. Scorers in that game were Mattie McBeth with 10 points, Kinley Meadows with eight points, and Avery Ross added four.

A second district win puts the Lady Badger basketball team in a good spot to end the regular season with a playoff berth, and they got that second win over Lago Vista on Tuesday night. The final score was 57-29.

The Lampasas High School cheerleaders saved their best performance for last, as they finished in the top 10 at the National Cheerleaders Association High School Nationals competition last week in Dallas.

The Lometa Hornet basketball team struggled in a couple of tough losses, falling to Brookesmith and Richland Springs in games last week. Against Brookesmith, the Hornets lost 67-33. “It was just a bad game for us in general,” Lometa head coach Austin Martin said.
