Ms. Landers

Kim Chaney Landers was born Sept. 22, 1961, in Lampasas to Rex Chaney and Cora Weaks Chaney. She grew up in Killeen and moved back to Lampasas during her teen years. She married and had two children: a daughter, Tiffany Landers, and a son, Drew Landers. She lived her life as a homemaker.

Mrs. Stewart

Mary Lee Harris Stewart, 95, died on Aug. 10, 2022, at St. David’s Hospital in Austin. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Aug. 16, with refreshments to follow in the fellowship hall. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Mr. Holloway

Gordon Wiley Holloway Jr., 79, of Lampasas died in his home on Aug. 12, 2022. Wiley was born Aug. 12, 1943 in Aubrey, Arkansas to GW Holloway Sr. and Lula Mae Holloway. He was born and raised in the same home until he married in 1962.

Mr. McMurtry

DEATHS Jeffrey J. McMurtry, 62, of Kempner died at his home on July 31, 2022. He was born on Sept. 23, 1959 in Minnesota to James and Ellen McMurtry. Mr. McMurtry had lived in Kempner since 2011, movingthere from Boerne. He and Patricia were married on June 18, 1988, in Colorado.

Jeffrey J. McMurtry, 62, of Kempner died at his home on July 31, 2022. He was born on Sept. 23, 1959 in Minnesota to James and Ellen McMurtry. Mr. McMurtry had lived in Kempner since 2011, moving there from Boerne. He and Patricia were married on June 18, 1988, in Colorado.

Mr. Spurlin

Roy J. Spurlin, 94, of Gallipolis, Ohio and formerly of Lampasas, Texas, died on July 30, 2022 at Holzer Senior Care in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born on May 29, 1928 in Post, Texas, son of the late Jerry and Susie Bingham Spurlin. Roy was a supply clerk in the Civil Service Division for the U.S.

Mrs. Perkins

Carolyn Ann Perkins, 85, of Lampasas died on Aug. 1, 2022. Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Lampasas on Aug. 5 at 10 a.m., with visitation an hour prior. Interment will follow at Townsen Cemetery in Adamsville. Carolyn was born on March 3, 1937, in Lampasas to T.C.

Mr. Bass

Troy Clinton Bass, 44, of Copperas Cove died on July 31, 2022. Troy was born April 18, 1978 in Lampasas to parents Vance Bass and Mamie (Perry) Jones. Troy was a man who cared for others. For 22 years he worked as a paramedic in Lampasas County, taking care of the community.

Mrs. Shroyer

Peggy Ann Shroyer, 87, died on July 18, 2022, at her home in Lampasas. A private service will be held on Aug. 12 at 5:30 p.m. A livestream will be available on the Livingway Family Church YouTube page. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements. Peggy was born on Aug.

Mr. Nixon

Edward Jay Nixon, 82, was a world traveler and lived many places, but he made his home in Kempner with his wife, Sandy Nixon. Ed died at his home on July 17, 2022 from natural causes. Ed was born Dec. 10, 1939 in Central Lake, Michigan to Margaret (Dillingham) Nixon and Gerald Edward Nixon.
