The holiday season can be challenging for those who are grieving a loss. To help provide encouragement, support and resources to assist residents, GriefShare will offer its “Surviving the Holidays” seminar.The two-hour seminar will be Nov. 16 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Scouts to hold food drive

Scout Troop 200/400 will hold its annual food drive this coming week. Bags will be distributed in various neighborhoods the morning of Nov. 1.The Scouts ask that residents generously fill the bags with non-perishable food. They will collect the bags the morning of Nov. 8.

Concerns deepen about New World screwworm

Many ranchers fear it will only be a matter of time before the New World screwworm appears in the Lone Star State. Just last month, the parasitic fly was discovered 70 miles south of the Texas border in the Mexican state of Nuevo León.

Costumed children take center stage
