Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday.The Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department – represented by Investigators Wayne Hilgenberg, Jason Collins and Edward Hood – presented information that resulted in three indictments: Forrest McKean Rasmussen on a charge of deadly conduct on Sept. 12.

Fog lifts near 580 Sports Complex

After early-morning fog dissipated Monday in west Lampasas, the temperature rose to near record-setting levels for November. By Thursday, however, rain clouds moved across the county, moderating the weather. Rain is in the forecast for Sunday and Monday, as well.

Wooten files as Democrat candidate for county judge

Retired businessman Wade Dudley Wooten is the latest candidate to enter the race for Lampasas County judge in 2026.Wooten is the only Democratic candidate to declare so far. And while Lampasas County may be a Republican stronghold, he said he is eager to speak with those from across the aisle.
