Lampasas County 27th District Court convened for two hearings on Dec. 15. Judge Debbie Garrett presided over the hearings.Defendant Gary Wayne Babcock Jr. of Livingston pleaded guilty to a charge of theft of property greater than or equal to $2,500 and less than $30,000.

Harrison joins race for next county judge

Edith Wagner Harrison, a two-term Lampasas County district clerk, has announced her candidacy for Lampasas County judge.She joins Republican candidates David Millican and Jo Ann San Miguel, as well as Democratic candidate Wade Dudley Wooten, in seeking the position held by County Judge Randy Hoyer.

Steer takes top honors at Lometa show

The grand champion steer at the Lometa FFA Livestock Show was exhibited by Karlee Hydin. Show judge Emory Geye holds the championship trophy for Hydin. Results from the youth livestock show will appear in Friday’s edition of the Dispatch Record.

Lampasas ends 2025 with sales tax dip

The cities of Lampasas and Kempner may feel they received a lump of coal in December, as their sales tax allocations took a downward turn this month.Lampasas recorded a 2% dip in receipts; Kempner saw sales tax revenues drop 6% this period.

FIRE DEPARTMENT TOY DRIVELampasas Fire Department is accepting new, unwrapped toys, bicycles and monetary donations for its annual toy drive. Donations may be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. until Friday at 5 p.m.

LISD debates bond options once more

The Lampasas ISD Board of Trustees is yet to nail down the details of propositions that will be featured in a May 2026 bond election after discussion in Monday’s regular school board meeting.
