Refilling stock tanks

After good rainfall over the weekend, Lampasas County farmers and ranchers began to see their tanks replenished with runoff. More precipitation is needed, however, as the area remains under severe drought conditions.

Dimas receives high school diploma at special recognition ceremony

For 96-year-old Guadalupe “Wally” Dimas, he officially has become a graduate of Lampasas High School. On Thursday morning, a special graduation service was held to provide Dimas the opportunity of a lifetime.

Rain has little bearing on water restrictions

Despite recent rainfall, area residents should not expect water restrictions to loosen anytime soon. Water levels in Stillhouse Hollow Lake, the main water source for Lampasas and Kempner customers, remains low. Lampasas water customers and Kempner Water Supply Corp.

Rain is expected today, tonight and tomorrow, National Weather Service officials said.  NWS meteorologists issued a hazardous weather outlook at 3:21 a.m. Friday morning, noting stormy conditions are expected today for Lampasas, Coryell, Bell, Hamilton and surrounding counties.

Taylor Creek Elementary honors 9/11 heroes

Taylor Creek Elementary School hosted a “We Remember Memorial” on Monday to honor the first responders who put their lives on the line during the 9/11 attacks in 2001. The event started with a parade featuring student-made memorial signs.
