The 88th session of the Texas Legislature saw lawmakers propose 14 amendments to the state constitution. Voter approval will be required at the statewide general election on Nov. 7 to finalize these amendments to the Texas Constitution.

Ramos seeks third term as Lampasas County sheriff

Sheriff Jesus “Jess” Ramos believes there is more to be accomplished in the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office. Ramos is seeking reelection to his third term, and for the first time he is facing a challenger. Former U.S. Border Patrol officer David Parker also is seeking the position.

The Lampasas Community Gardens “Fall Y’all Festival” is Saturday from 4-7 p.m. The gardens are behind the Hanna Springs Swimming Pool at 501 E. North Ave. The fundraiser will include a silent auction, face painting, line dancing, food and other activities. Tickets are available at the gardens.

LHS student arrested for alleged firearm threats

A Lampasas High School student was arrested Tuesday morning after police said he made a firearm-related threat.  After a Lampasas Police Department investigation, Noah William Randall, 17, was arrested at LHS on a charge of threat/exhibiting/use of a firearm at a school – a Class A misdemeanor.

Master Gardeners to present talk on culinary herb gardens

The Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association will offer its next Green Thumb Program on Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to noon at Lakeshore Library, 7346 Ranch Road 261 in Buchanan Dam. Master Gardener Lyn Mefford will address “Using Cloth Planters to Create Portable Culinary Herb Gardens.
