AgScience Advisory Council receives report on programs of study

DRT members gather in Blanco

Eleven members and three prospective members of the Oran Milo Roberts Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas recently attended the DRT District V meeting in Blanco.

Lometa residents have roles in Goldthwaite Theatre show

When the lights go down and the curtain goes up for the fall production of the Goldthwaite Theatre, five of the six cast members will be residents of neighboring community Lometa. The play, which is an old-fashioned melodrama entitled “The Devious Dentist or … There’s Gold in Them Thar Teeth!

Celebrating a new location

Cooley Baltrun, PLLC recently had a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of its new office at 219 E. Third St. in Lampasas. Holding the scissors is Jason Baltrun, the husband of attorney Jackie Baltrun, and they are surrounded by friends, family, office staff and chamber members.

Kempner City Council adopts new policies

Tuesday’s Kempner City Council meeting was devoted primarily to housekeeping items. Council members adopted two policies related to staff travel and credit card usage. Mayor Pro-Tem Rob Green and Councilman Dan Long were absent from the proceedings.

Walking program offered

The program “Walk N Talk – Rethink Your Drink” is a free eight-week walking initiative that will be offered on Saturday mornings beginning Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. During this series, friends and family from the community can come together to support one another in a fun, simple way.

Fire Safety Week encourages caution while cooking

Cooking safety should be on the minds of Lampasans this week after a fire safety and awareness proclamation was issued by city officials. Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries, according to the National Fire Prevention Association.
