Rain! Glorious rain!

Running water covers the roadway on Hackberry Street Thursday, as much-needed precipitation has fallen on Lampasas County. According to the National Weather Service, rain totals measured from the Lampasas Municipal Airport between Tuesday and Thursday at 6 a.m. were 3.03 inches.

Lampasans speak in favor of constitutional amendments

Three Lampasans spoke in favor of farming and ranching rights and cost-of-living adjustments for retired teachers in a Lampasas County Commissioners Court meeting.

BURN BAN LIFTED County Judge Randy Hoyer has lifted temporarily the outdoor burn ban that recently was enacted. Burning will be permitted until 6 p.m. on Oct. 31. EARLY VOTING CONTINUES Early voting in the Constitutional Amendment Election continues through next week.

General deer season to begin Nov. 4

The whitetail deer in Central Texas are a big draw for hunters. With the archery-only season set to conclude next week, the general season will open Nov. 4.

Mental health organization logs over 7,000 hours of service for Lampasas County

Hay production: a look at this year’s forecast

As Will Rogers once said, “A farmer has to be an optimist, or he wouldn’t still be a farmer.” For this year’s hay forecast, that could not be a more accurate statement. As Lampasas County heads into the cooler months, there is good news and bad news.

L-M Garden Club tours San Saba vineyard

L-M Garden and Civic Club journeyed to San Saba on Oct. 16 to visit the vineyard of Trish Fullerton. She gave the group a tour and described in depth how a vineyard is started and maintained. Fullerton explained the pruning technique that allows the vines to produce grapes in abundance.
