Icy conditions could arise on Tuesday

The National Weather Service issued a freeze watch at 11:33 a.m. this morning for Lampasas County.  The NWS says sub-freezing temperatures may arise late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

Winery earns top award

Texas Legato Winery, owned by Bill and Sulynn Bledsoe of Lampasas, received the 2023 Grand Star Medal for its Non-Vintage Sojourn port-styled wine. The grape is a 2023 Washington Syrah made on site, Bledsoe said.

Bridge players take home prizes

Christine Vann was the first-place winner at the October Community Bridge afternoon. Jim Hutchinson was second, and Linda Williams took home thirdplace honors. Lou Wiginton won the door prize. No one won the slam prize. The next scheduled bridge play date is Nov. 13 at 1 p.m.

Input sought on transportation plan

The Texas Department of Transportation is developing “Connecting Texas 2050,” the latest update to its statewide long-range transportation plan. Development of Connecting Texas 2050 began in fall 2022 and will continue through spring 2024.

Kelley issues plea; Morua faces jury trial

A Lampasas man issued a plea in a child sexual assault case, and a second man was scheduled for jury trial on a similar charge. On Monday, Zachary Austin Kelley, 25, pleaded no contest to a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
