Medicare open enrollment to close Dec. 7

For Lampasas County residents over the age of 65, the opportunity to make changes to one’s Medicare health plan is nearing the end. The Medicare Open Enrollment period will end Dec. 7. Until that date, Medicare recipients can make changes to their health plan.

Volunteers assist with Thanksgiving food collection

Loughmiller has honed her craft, shared her talents with the community for generations

Wilma Loughmiller says she moves a little slower than she used to. While that probably is true, what she continues to accomplish at almost 90 years old is quite impressive. Loughmiller’s hands are never still, as evidenced by the things that fill her home.

Eclipse town hall set for Dec. 13

There are 136 days left until the 2024 Great American Total Solar Eclipse, and Lampasasarea officials continue to prepare the community for the event. A town hall meeting is set for Dec. 13. Lampasas officials are hosting the meeting at the old middle school cafeteria located at 103 N. Western Ave.

Kline Whitis students talk all things Thanksgiving

Kindergarten, first- and second-grade students from Kline Whitis Elementary School submitted responses to some fun Thanksgiving Day questions. Students had the chance to answer one of three prompts: “What does a turkey have to do with Thanksgiving?” “What does your family cook for Thanksgiving?

Lampasas volleyball players receive awards and recognition

Last week, the Lady Badger volleyball team held its banquet to close out the 2023 season. Six team awards were given out: the Battlin’ Badger award, the Defensive Specialist, Best Blocker, Best Hitter, Best Server and Most Valuable Player.
