Harker Heights man indicted on drug charge

A Harker Heights man was indicted on a first-degree felony drug charge this month after the initial dismissal of his charge in June. Darryl Thomas Richards, 56, was indicted Nov. 8 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver with a habitual felony offender’s notice.

‘Restoration from Drought’ workshop on tap

Cantata recognizes 75th anniversary

Dec. 10 will mark the 75th annual Christmas Cantata performance in Lampasas, or so it’s believed. “We think this is our 75th,” said Mary Tittle, cantata choral director. “We have no records back that far. We picked a year after World War II, figuring that they weren’t held during the war.

Tips offered to conserve water at home

Most residents in Lampasas County are living under stage 3 water restrictions, trying to conserve water during these dry times. Last week, Kempner Water Supply Corp. informed its customers of ways to reduce water usage.

Smaller gains seen in sales tax receipts

The November 2023 sales tax allocation for the city of Lampasas finally inched upward, after five months of declining revenues compared to last year’s receipts. Lampasas earned a payment of $253,209 this period – up 1% from what it took in for November 2022.

Cost of Texas Thanksgiving dinner up this year

The average cost of a classic Thanksgiving dinner in Texas is slightly more expensive than a year ago, according to Farm Bureau’s annual price survey. The average cost of this year’s Thanksgiving feast for 10 people is $61.89, or $6.19 per person.
