LVFD seeks volunteers

The Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department is seeking additional volunteers to assist with fire and other emergency calls in the county. Volunteers must be over 18, have a valid driver license and no criminal history. Those interested may pick up at application at the fire station, 1107 E. Fourth St.

Fire chief to bid goodbye

Lampasas Fire Chief Jeff Smith confirmed Friday he has issued his resignation to take a position with the Decatur Fire Department. His last day will be Jan. 19. Smith described the change in position as positive for his career and his family.

Trimming continues around city electric lines

McCoy Tree Surgery workers cut branches that were weighing down power lines behind residences along County Road 4017. Crews were trimming trees Thursday and Friday in the Woodland Acres subdivision across from Lampasas High School.

Lampasas County residents may continue to conduct outdoor burns on their property. County Judge Randy Hoyer once again has lifted the order restricting burning. Outdoor burns will be allowed until Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. SOURDOUGH 101 Lampasas Community Gardens will sponsor a workshop Jan.

Wind advisory issued for Lampasas County

Batten down the hatches! The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the area this afternoon.  NWS officials issued a wind advisory for Lampasas, Coryell, Hamilton and surrounding counties effective from noon to 6 p.m. Winds of 20-30 mph with gusts of up to 45 mph are expected.

Felan arrested

Lampasas law enforcement apprehended the fifth suspect in a narcotics trafficking case after a raid on an alleged Lometa drug house last week.

FMC Science now under new ownership

The trio of Dr. Vanna Gold, Lauren Atkinson Garner and Mia Monroe have purchased FMC Science from Dr. James Cain. Moving forward, the firm will be known as Radiance Clinical Research.
