ERCOT expects tight grid conditions Tuesday

Pilot unharmed after crash Wednesday at airport

The pilot of a small aircraft was unharmed after his plane crashed on the runway of the Lampasas Municipal Airport Wednesday evening. Lampasas police were notified of the crash at 6:20 p.m. “On Jan. 10, we received an emergency call that there was an airplane crash at our airport,” LPD Patrol Lt.

Caring for plants overwintering indoors

Gardeners are notorious for pushing the limits of their growing zones. Tropical plants, succulents and other plants that are not hardy to the winter climate often end up indoors for the winter.

Cody Hinson of Lampasas was named to the South Plains College Fall 2023 Dean’s List. Hinson was among more than 700 students who qualified for the recognition. Students must earn a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours to earn the honor.

Lometa students prep for One-Act Play contest

Lometa High School’s storied One-Act Play program will take the stage once again on March 4, when the school hosts the district contest. The department will be beginning its path to another state contest appearance with a production of the play “Loving” by Peter Manos.

Lampasas officials offer winter weather tips

With subfreezing temperatures across Texas starting the week and projected to return this weekend, Lampasas city officials urge citizens to remember the '4' P's' during winter weather events. People, Pets, Pipes and Plants are all vulnerable during cold temperatures.

The report from the Jan. 10 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 530, compared to 485 last sale and 804 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Slaughter cows were $2-$4 higher, and slaughter bulls were steady.

Lometa council advertises open city positions

Meeting in regular session in City Council Chambers with all members present last week, the Lometa City Council moved quickly through a brief agenda. The council approved an item pertaining to the advertisement of a job vacancy at City Hall.

Auto dealership to celebrate 30th anniversary this week

Benny Boyd Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Ram is celebrating its 30th anniversary of serving Lampasas County. The dealership started by Benny Boyd Sr. and his son Benny Boyd Jr. has seen consistent success since coming to Lampasas in January 1994. Although the traffic along U.S.
