New political group forms in Lampasas County

Texas First Conservative Alliance is a conservative, grassroots organization just getting off the ground in Lampasas County. “We are citizens who are working at the local level to make a difference in our failing government at the state and national levels,” said a group spokesman.

Hanna Springs honor students named

The second nine-week period has ended for the Lampasas Independent School District. Hanna Springs Elementary School has released its list of honor roll students for the period.

Filing deadline nears for place on May ballots

The deadline for candidates to file for May 4 municipal and school board elections is less than three weeks away. Filing will be offered until Feb. 16. The city of Kempner and Lometa Independent School District are the only local entities yet to receive any applications for seats up for election.

CTWS supplies update on pump repairs at Stillhouse plant

Central Texas Water Supply General Manager Lee Kelley said repairs to the plant’s two lower intake pumps are advancing, and he expects one pump to be completed and operational within the next two weeks. CTWS, which delivers water to Lampasas through the Kempner Water Supply Corp.

Commissioners Court discusses RV park regulations

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court is expected to approve changes to the county’s subdivision regulations in a future meeting after discussing alterations at length in a workshop Jan. 22.

KWSC reduces water restrictions to stage 2

The Kempner Water Supply Corp. released a statement to members on Thursday, saying the water supplier would be reducing drought restrictions. On Wednesday, the KWSC Board of Directors voted at its monthly meeting to return to stage 2 water conservation efforts, effective Jan. 1.

Funeral set Feb. 4 for L.E. Davis

Longtime banker, civic leader and Air Force veteran Lloyd E. Davis died on Jan. 24, 2024, at the age of 103. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lampasas at noon on Feb. 4. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Local ag mentor takes on new trainees

A local retired teacher attended a student teacher conference Jan. 22 to meet mentee teachers from across the Hill Country area. Dr. Steve Forsythe, retired Lampasas agricultural science teacher, has continued to help ag teachers-to-be at Texas A&M University.
