The report from the Feb. 14 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 367, compared to 604 last sale and 559 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls $2-$4 higher.

Polling places open today for those interested in casting an early ballot in either the Democratic Party Primary Election or the Republican Party Primary Election. The official election date is March 5. Lampasas County offers early voting at the Elections Administrator’s office, 407 S. Pecan St.

Casino Night draws big crowd

Warren Bluntzer, at right, holds up a mount of elk antlers he donated for the live auction at Saturday’s Wild West Casino Night. The event drew a full crowd at the Lampasas County Show Barn, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, Vision Lampasas and the Lions Club.

New books for campus library

Dee Anderson, librarian at Taylor Creek Elementary School, shows off a group of 15 books donated to the campus by Lampasas County Farm Bureau. Farm Bureau director Janet Machen brought the farming-related books to the school library for students to read and enjoy.
