Eclipse town hall planned

One final town hall to inform residents about preparations to handle travelers and any potential emergencies during the upcoming solar eclipse will be held March 20 from 6-7 p.m. at the old middle school cafeteria,103 N. Western Ave.

The report from the March 6 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows.Cattle and calves:Total cattle 279, compared to 473 last sale and 468 at this time last year.Compared to last sale, feeder steers were $5-$10 higher, heifers steady. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were $3-$5 higher.

From head football coach to athletic director, and assistant principal to now principal, Joey McQueen has done it all at Lampasas High School.During Monday’s Lampasas Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting, the board accepted McQueen’s resignation effective at the end of June.

Tuesday’s primary election results showed many Lampasas County residents were seeking change for the positions of sheriff and Precinct 3 county commissioner. Both incumbents Jess Ramos and Lewis Bridges lost their re-election bids. They will finish out their terms at the end of 2024.

LISD board approves new scoreboard, greenhouse

Spectators at Badger Field will have a new scoreboard with video capabilities on display for the 2024 season. The purchase received the OK from the Lampasas Independent School District Board of Trustees during Monday’s regular meeting.

The city of Lampasas has begun its spring brush-chipping service. Brush has been collected this week from the northwest section of town.From March 11-15, brush chipping will be available curbside on the southwest side – for those who live south of First Street and west of Key Avenue.

County results in!

A total of 4,890 Lampasans made it to the polls in this election, 30.6% of the 15,969 registered voters. In the Republican Party primary, 4,438 votes were cast, and 452 in the Democrat Party primary.

LHS graduate hospitalized after head-on collision

A prayer vigil will be held this evening for a Lampasas graduate injured in a head-on collision. Madison Roedler, a 2023 Lampasas High School graduate and 2022-2023 Prom Queen, was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision just before midnight Saturday.
