’36 Club to offer vocational scholarships

The ’36 Club is accepting scholarship applications. Forms are available through the Lampasas High School counselor’s office or online on the High School Counselor webpage.These scholarships are designed for students who want to pursue vocational education.

25 years and counting

The longest-tenured coach at Lampasas High School is the Badgers’ tennis coach, Kenneth Peiser, who is in his 25th season and plans to be around for several more years.Peiser has been with the Lampasas school district since 1999.

Track teams compete in Marble Falls meet

Last Thursday, the Lampasas track teams hit the road to Marble Falls for the third track meet of the season.Team results were not listed on the meet website, but all individual results were available.In the boys’ division, Trenton Hobbs finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.93.

Judge sentences Martinez to 12 years in child sexual assault case

A Lampasas man was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment in the conclusion of a child sexual assault case heard in 27th District Court.On March 1, Vincent Lee Martinez, 28, was found guilty and sentenced to 12 years on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over a limited docket.Defendant Wylinda Dee Cook of Lampasas entered a plea of guilty to a charge of health care fraud equal to or greater than $2,500 and less than $30,000.

LHS grad hospitalized after collision

Madison Roedler, a 2023 Lampasas High School graduate, was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision just before midnight Saturday.Family and friends organized a prayer vigil for her recovery at Putters & Gutters Tuesday night.A second prayer vigil is scheduled for March 8 at 5 p.m.
