The report from the Feb. 28 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows.Cattle and calves:Total cattle 473, compared to 318 last sale and 599 at this time last year.Compared to last sale, stockers were steady, feeders $3-$5 lower. Slaughter cows were steady to $3 higher, and slaughter bulls were $2--$4 higher.

TxDOT postpones highway work for now

Officials to issue emergency declaration ahead of eclipse

Lampasas County officials said they have plans to issue a local declaration of emergency in advance of the eclipse after similar motions were made by a nearby county.In preparation for the April 8 total solar eclipse, Bell County officials issued a local disaster declaration Feb.

Lometa One-Act Play ready to head torward competition next week

The Lometa High School One-Act Play begins its march toward the state contest once again, with Monday’s district competition being the starting point.

Young volunteers recognized

Lorelai Dressell and Abigail Justice, members of Lampasas Girl Scout Troop 6005, were awarded the Misti Talbert Community Champion Award for their volunteer work at the Lampasas Animal Shelter. The girls accumulated 800 hours of volunteer work in 2023.
