Severe weather expected after today's eclipse

National Weather Service meteorologists are predicting severe storms this afternoon after the total solar eclipse. The NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook at 4:26 a.m. Monday for North and Central Texas, including Lampasas, Hamilton, Coryell, Bell and several other surrounding counties.

Weather forecast puts eclipse visibility in doubt

With the 2024 total solar eclipse just days away from bringing over four minutes of complete totality to Lampasas, views of the spectacle are in doubt. According to the National Weather Service, cloudy skies on Monday during the eclipse time could damper the view of totality.

Badger Jazz Band to hold annual fundraiser

The Lampasas Badger Jazz Band will hold its annual Tunes N’ Taters dinner and concert event April 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lampasas High School gym.Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased from LHS band members.Dinner can be enjoyed while the band members entertain from 6-7 p.m.

In less than one week, all of Lampasas County will experience the celestial beauty of a total solar eclipse. If the weather cooperates, onlookers should expect to be mesmerized by a sense of awe, researchers say.

Motorcyclist hospitalized following Avenue J wreck

A motorcyclist was hospitalized after a wreck that police have attributed to speeding.On the afternoon of March 29, Lampasas Police Department received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 800 block of East Avenue J near the intersection of Hackberry Street. Police were on scene at 2:36 p.m.
