Full recovery expected

When Madison Roedler drove home from her college campus the first weekend in March, she thought it would be a quick trip. She planned to work a little, spend time with family and friends, and go to their home church on Sunday morning.

Cattle auction to close after more than 60 years of business

May 1, 2024, will mark the end of an era that began on July 19, 1959. The echo of cattle lowing will cease to exist. The auction cafe will no longer operate. Cattle buyers, beef producers and cowboys will no longer swap greetings and stories.

Austin-area resident Jenna Herrington was among the several hundred eclipse watchers Monday at W.M. Brook Park. The Meade MTS-SN8 telescope offered a view of the sun once the clouds parted about mid-morning, enabling a clearer perspective on the eclipse.

Eclipse chasers from across the United States, Europe, Asia and other parts of the globe soaked in the beauty of the 2024 total solar eclipse in Lampasas County on Monday.For some, the trip was a vacation and time spent with family in the awe of the celestial world.
