Physicals being offered for next school year

Next month, physicals will be offered to all current and future Lampasas athletes.On May 7 from 8-10 a.m., physicals will be given at Lampasas High School. The cost is $20, with checks made payable to AdventHealth or cash.

Trials reset in two separate shooting cases

Two trials have been reset for individuals accused in Lampasas County shooting incidents in 2023.Michael Oran Woods, 43, is set for jury announcement and trial in June, and Sarah Jane Ames, 32, is set for jury announcement and trial in July.

A Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday to continue its January term.Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Wayne Hilgenberg presented information that resulted in the indictment of Michelle Lee Ogg on a charge of animal cruelty on Feb. 21.Sgt.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings.Defendant Edward Brandon Zayas of Killeen had an open plea hearing on a charge of evading arrest/detention with a vehicle or watercraft.

Commissioners Court holds public hearing on subdivision rules

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court approved changes to the county’s subdivision rules made in response to new laws passed by the Texas Legislature.Before approval at Tuesday’s meeting, the court held public hearings for the Takings Impact Assessment and subdivision rule changes.

Bluebonnets pop up across county

Kempner-area resident Wendy Daugherty said the bluebonnet displays have been amazing this year, and some genetic anomalies have begun to appear such as these “albino” bluebonnets. Maybe the wildflowers just wanted to show off for eclipse guests, she said.
