Rabies reported in feral cat

The Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office has issued a news release, describing a recent incident in which a citizen was bitten by an animal that later tested positive for rabies.The sheriff’s office said it received a call May 29 from a woman in the 6000 block of County Road 3010.

County continues repair work after water damage in annex

County Judge Randy Hoyer said that efforts to repair water damage to the Lampasas County Office Building caused by a water fountain malfunction are continuing to progress.A water fountain on the second floor of the county annex building overflowed during the final weekend of April.

Property Tax Seminar draws crowd to learn about appeals

Approximately 100 Lampasas County residents were at New Covenant Church Tuesday night to hear property tax expert Mike Berlanga of San Antonio provide information on how to file a protest on the appraised values for homes or business property.

Vehicle crashes into tree on FM 580 West

On Tuesday, a teenage driver westbound on FM 580 West about 10 miles outside of Lampasas left the roadway, causing the Chevy Tracker to roll over into trees on the opposite side.

Monarchs spotted in Texas

Monarch butterflies pass through Texas twice a year during their migrations north and south. The butterflies hibernate in the mountains of Mexico during the colder months until they head north to Canada. The Monarch was named the state insect on June 16, 1995.

TxDOT to close LHS entrance

The Texas Department of Transportation announced Monday it will close the entrance to Lampasas High School starting Wednesday, due to construction efforts on U.S. Highway 281.
