Rain keeps Lampasas area green

This shaded riparian area in Lampasas County offers a peaceful setting with a gently flowing stream. Although Lampasas County remains drought-free at this point, the latest U.S. Drought Monitor data shows 57% of the state is considered under abnormally dry conditions or worse.

The Lometa ISD Board of Trustees met last week, with an agenda that focused on continuing improvements for the district.Board members were presented with a quote for the purchase of a new bus, and they finalized district improvement goals and board priorities for the school year.

The last date to register for vote in the Nov. 5 General Election is Oct. 7. Those who require a ballot by mail must have their application in to the Lampasas County Elections Office no later than Oct. 25.Early voting will be Oct. 21-Nov. 1.

Lampasas Middle School sixth-grade student Cort Maples has earned accolades showing his miniature Herefords across Texas.Maples, the son of Thad and Heather Maples, is a member of Lampasas County 4-H and also shows market steers.He competed at the West Texas State Fair in Abilene on Sept.

Lampasas County Farm Bureau members should begin making plans to attend the annual Lampasas County Farm Bureau Convention to be held at the Lampasas County Livestock Show Barn, 183 North U.S. Highway 281.The Oct. 8 meeting and convention begins at 6 p.m.
