Winter a dangerous time for home fires

With temperatures set to reach near freezing this week, Lampasas County residents will be looking for ways to stay warm. However, it is important to stay safe in the process.Each year half of all home heating fires occur in the months of December, January and February.

Lampasas gas prices below state, national averages

As the holiday season continues and travel increases, gasoline prices in Lampasas County rest significantly below the state average.The statewide average in Texas is $2.63 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

Santa makes his grand entrance

Santa Claus made his appearance in the Holidazzle Christmas Parade, riding in style in the Lampasas Fire Department’s newest fire truck. All was merry and bright at the Saturday evening festivities to close out a full day of Carol of Lights.

Kempner rededicates City Hall to honor Clark, Isenhour

Kempner Municipal Judge Gene Isenhour and longtime city financial adviser Jack Clark were recognized for their commitment to Kempner at a building dedication ceremony Saturday morning.Kempner City Hall is now known as the Isenhour/Clark Municipal Building.

Kempner Christmas in the Park tonight

The city of Kempner is hosting the Christmas in the Park event tonight.The event begins at 5 p.m. and will include vendors for holiday shopping, seasonal food and beverages, festive music and a Christmas movie showing.Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance at 6:15 p.m.

Donation made to benefit toy drive

Saratoga Masonic Lodge #546 members were present at the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department’s Holiday Lunch to make a $500 donation toward toys for area children.
