Pilots Association names first recipients of new scholarship award

The Lampasas Pilots Association held its quarterly breakfast meeting Sept. 9 at Putters & Gutters in Lampasas. On the agenda was the awarding of an LPA Training Scholarship.

Wildfire preparedness workshop planned for Sept. 21

Lampasas County residents interested in learning how to protect themselves and their property from wildfire are invited to a Wildfire Preparedness Workshop on Sept. 21. The meeting is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. at the Lampasas County Farm Bureau Building, 1793 U.S. Highway 281 North.

Following in her father’s footsteps

Sometimes, career paths can be a tough choice. As a college freshman in 2010, Crystal Elder Eschbach had no idea what her future would hold. Fast-forward to today, and Eschbach can be found working alongside her father, Jay Elder, as a dentist at Sulphur Springs Dental in Lampasas.

Local author publishes children’s book on Texas wildlife

While Lampasas resident Courtney Rubalcaba was working in early childhood education for eight years, she noticed a need for good children’s books. She decided to write one herself. At the end of July, Rubalcaba published a book on Texas wildlife called “Walking through Texas.
