Get to know Lampasas County 4-H project leaders

More than 500,000 youths across Texas are involved in 4-H activities. The program is celebrating National 4-H Week Oct. 1-7. In 4-H, youth may participate in shooting sports, food science, healthy living, robotics, fashion and photography. The 4-H clover stands for head, heart, hands and health.

Rehearsals commence for Christmas Cantata

Lampasas Methodist Church will begin rehearsals for the 75th annual Christmas Cantata on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the church’s sanctuary at 2 Alexander Lane. Participants are asked to enter through the old fellowship hall/choir room door.

Dutch, the wonder dog

Dutch is a little dog with sleek black hair, fluffy ears and about four cowlicks running in different directions down and across his back. Dutch's momma had had at least one litter before he and his brothers were born.

National Night Out event set for Tuesday

The annual National Night Out event is set for Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Members of the Lampasas Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies will be in the H-E-B grocery store parking lot on Key Avenue to connect with community members.

Jams and jellies, made with a twist

Anyone who spends much time at the Lampasas Farmer’s Market & Crafts around the courthouse square on Saturday mornings is likely to see Ruth and David Somers’ “Papa’s Garden Jams and Jellies” table.

L-M Garden Club names scholarship recipients

L-M Garden and Civic Club held its first meeting of the 2023-2024 club year on Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. Members had an opportunity to catch up on various summer activities. On July 1, the club held its annual summer plant sale in Lometa, profiting nearly $1,350.

Inaugural Western Night event sees great turnout

Lampasas County Museum officials said with the dance’s success this year, they plan to host another street dance next year. Country music legend Gary P. Nunn performed at the inaugural Western Night on Western event, hosted by the Lampasas County Museum.
