Kempner VFD seeks sponsors, donations for annual barbecue

The Kempner Volunteer Fire Department will host its 44th annual BBQ and Auction/Raffle fundraiser on April 27. The department is seeking commitments for dessert and auction item donations, as well as sponsors for the event.

If there is one thing most people can agree on, it is that the world has changed. Not only is it different from the one we grew up knowing, no matter what year that was, but the world continues to reshape itself at a dizzying pace.

Lampasas County Young Farmers and Ranchers

In 1950, there were more than 40,000 American farmers and ranchers between the ages of 25 and 34. As of the last census of agriculture, that number has fallen to 18,000. However, the number of people needing food has not fallen but has increased.

Change can be difficult for any organization. For First Baptist Church in Lometa, multiple changes have left the congregation in a place of excitement and growth for 2024. These changes include the addition of a new head pastor and renovated worship space.

Museum to display artifacts from era of 1397 eclipse

Board OKs calender, talks upgrades for Taylor Creek

The Lampasas Independent School District calendar for the 2024-2025 school year has been set. Trustees approved the new school calendar in the regular board meeting held Feb. 5. Also, board members received a short presentation of drone footage taken from above Taylor Creek Elementary School.

Remembering Brenda Smith

Some 30 years ago, a young woman walked into the Lampasas Dispatch Record office and started her new job. She was a fledgling mom who found herself single and desired to do what she needed to do to provide a good life for herself and her little girl.
