Ag Hall of Fame inductees include two with Lampasas ties

Two former ag teachers from the area were inducted this summer into the Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas Hall of Fame.Former Lampasas High School teacher Charles Edwards and former Burnet High School ag instructor Joe Vann, brother of LHS ag teacher Judy Hail, were the local inductees.

We're all young enough to have a hero

When we think of heroes, our minds usually settle on a fun fictional character like the Lone Ranger, Superman, Captain America or others like them. We might also think of a person who commits a courageous act that saves others from harm or even death. Those are indeed heroes, and we need them.

Nonprofit helps animal shelter with feral cat population

Feral cat colonies can be a nuisance and health concern. One positive case of rabies in Lampasas County was reported within the last month and a half.When rabies is found in a feral cat colony, the entire colony must be euthanized.

Red Cross blood drive collects needed units to save lives

Donors at the recent American Red Cross Community Blood Drive in Lampasas contributed 53 units to help save lives of those in critical need of blood.Donations were taken from 46 area residents, and eight of those were Power Red donors, drive coordinator Wanda Lang said.

Lometa Meet the Teacher nights scheduled

Lometa ISD will welcome students and teachers back for the new school year with two meet the staff nights, which will take place on July 30 and Aug. 1.The annual event, sponsored by the Lometa Lions Club, will include pulled pork sandwich meals both nights.Each night will begin with a meal at 6 p.m.
