‘A Matter of Balance’ classes to begin in November

Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. “A Matter of Balance” is a program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.The eight-session classes will be held twice a week for four weeks, beginning Nov. 4 at the Lampasas Senior Center, 901 S.

LHS theater students to perform ‘Shrek the Musical Jr.’

The land of Shrek is coming to Lampasas this fall, as Lampasas High School theater students will perform “Shrek the Musical Jr.” on three dates the second weekend of November.LHS theater director Greta Peterson said students are excited to bring the world from “Far, Far Away” to life.

Coat drive to aid Mission clients

Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel is accepting donations of coats, jackets and winter clothing of all types. These items will be passed along for clients at Lampasas Mission.Donated items may be dropped off at 201 E. Third St. in Lampasas on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Isenhour explores the wonders of woodcraft

From backscratchers to bowls and walking canes to candle holders, Kempner resident Gene Isenhour has a way of working with wood.Isenhour developed a wood art hobby in 2016 and is yet to look back. This year alone, he has handcrafted more than 125 bowls, with each piece having a story of its own.

Doggy Day Out: Animal shelter initiates community competition

The Lampasas Animal Shelter is going within the community with a special challenge that encourages volunteering and pet adoption.The Community Doggy Day Out Challenge is taking place through Nov. 27, and it encourages businesses and families to compete for the benefit of local dogs.

Lampasas firefighter climbs to recognize 9/11 fallen

ALampasas firefighter recently climbed 110 flights of stairs to memorialize those killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. It’s a climb he makes every year.The attack on the Twin Towers in New York City took the lives of 2,977 people, including 344 first responders.

AdventHealth kitchen renovation becomes reality

AdventHealth Rollins Brook’s kitchen makeover is the latest renovation to be completed to boost the hospital’s facilities. The project’s fulfillment was celebrated Monday during a Kitchen Reveal Party and tour.

Red Cross blood drive collects over 75 units

A total of 77 units were collected from the American Red Cross Community Blood Drive in Lampasas at First Street Church of Christ last Tuesday.Drive coordinator Wanda Lang said blood donations were taken from 72 donors.
