Free, reduced-priced school meals available

Lampasas Independent School District will charge for school meals for the 2025-2026 school year, however free and reduced-price meals are available for those who qualify.Families are encouraged to complete an application for free and reduced-priced school meals.

Museum set to recognize 75th year of Storm’s Drive-in

The Lampasas County Museum is bringing back the 1950s with a salute to Storm’s Drive-in. The popular burger spot will celebrate its 75th anniversary this September.

Master Gardeners to host two programs in August

The Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association invites the public to attend its Green Thumb Program offerings this month. These programs are held at the AgriLife Extension Office in Burnet, at 607 N. Vandeveer.On Aug. 7 at 2 p.m.

University of MissouriVeronica L. Butler has made the Dean’s List for the second consecutive semester at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She will return to the campus as a sophomore in the fall.Butler, of Copperas Cove, is a 2024 graduate of Lampasas High School.

The Lampasas County Friends of the Night Sky and Vision Lampasas will host a free Telescope Clinic, conducted by astronomer Phil Ostroff, on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.

With today being my birthday, I’ll not cry but write if I want to. With that established, how could I not talk about one of my favorite topics on this “big” day: food. There’s no better way to celebrate a birthday than gathering with family and friends around the dinner table at a restaurant.

LCSO deputy undergoes handler training with K-9 Blazer

Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office Deputy CJ Faubion has completed his first week of handler training with the county’s recently acquired K-9 dog, Blazer.The pair will train together until the end of August under the supervision of Shane Menz of Saber Working Dogs.
