Students talk Bill of Rights on Constitution Day

Each year during the week that includes Constitution Day (Sept. 17), students in Texas schools honor Celebrate Freedom Week to highlight the ideals on which the United States was founded.

Blood drive draws large number of donors

The American Red Cross Lampasas Community Blood Drive held Sept. 9 was a big success, drive coordinator Wanda Lang said.Seventy participants donated 73 units of blood.

Celebrating Storm’s 75th birthday with a game of cornhole

Dozens of Lampasas County residents competed in Storm’s Drive-In’s cornhole tournament on Saturday to celebrate the iconic Lampasas restaurant’s 75th anniversary and attempt to win cash prizes and a set of custom Storm’s cornhole boards.

Cort Maples participated in the West Texas Fair & Rodeo in Abilene over the Labor Day weekend. In 2024, he won Reserve Grand Champion Heifer and came back this year to try to top that accomplishment. He showed three of his Miniature Hereford heifers and a Miniature Hereford bull. Maples won Grand Champion Female with his heifer, Lena, in the Junior and Open Shows.
