Red Cross drive garners 64 units of blood

The latest American Red Cross Community Blood Drive took place July 15 at First Street Church of Christ’s Family Life Center.“We had 66 donors and collected 64 units,” drive coordinator Wanda Lan said. “Great day!

County Fair draws wide-ranging entries

County Fair exhibits were displayed last Thursday and Friday at First Presbyterian Church’s Fellowship Hall.More than 300 people came through during Spring Ho to see the 165 entries submitted by county residents.The ’36 Club hosted the event.

Babies, toddlers race in annual Diaper Derby

The Diaper Derby event on Spring Ho Friday morning at the courthouse bandstand brought in many competitors. Entrants from crawlers up to toddlers age 2 competed in various age groups in a race across the mat.The top three finishers in each heat received a prize.

Lampasas FFA places fifth in state Teach Ag Contest

Abigail Justice, Ava Rojas, Leah Walker and Michaela White, all members of the Lampasas FFA chapter, captured fifth place in the Teach Ag Contest at the 97th annual Texas FFA State Convention held June 30 through July 4.

FFA members receive Lone Star Degree

Chandler Boultinghouse, Jacie Resa, Ava Rojas, Daren Tristan and Janie Turner of the Lampasas FFA Chapter each were awarded the Lone Star FFA Degree at the 97th annual Texas FFA State Convention held June 30 through July 4.The Lone Star FFA Degree is the highest degree bestowed by the Texas FFA.

Gardening in extreme heat takes extra care

The recent heat wave that swept across much of the country is a good reminder to take extra care of our plants and ourselves as temperatures climb. Extreme temperatures can take their toll even on plants normally suited to the growing conditions.
