Brush-chipping program to begin

The city of Lampasas is set to begin its fall brushchipping program. Crews will collect brush that is no longer than four feet in length and set out at curbside during designated dates for each area of the city: • Oct. 31-Nov. 4 – northwest section of Lampasas.

CTC offers guest artist concert on Tuesday

The Central Texas College Fine Arts department will host a guest artist concert Nov. 1, featuring euphonium player Matthew Kundler and collaborative pianist Michelle Schumann. The concert will be in the Anderson Campus Center starting at 7:30 p.m.

Chamber’s Hunters Welcome set for Nov. 4

The Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center will kick off deer hunting season at the annual Hunters Welcome. Held to welcome outdoor enthusiasts to town, the event is set for Nov. 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the H-E-B parking lot, 705 S. Key Ave.

LCLA Reverse Raffle gives away prizes, benefits ag program

The Lampasas County Livestock Association held its annual Reverse Raffle fundraiser at the Lampasas County Show Barn on Saturday evening. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Lometa ISD ag program and fund local scholarships.

Bowling for Tots

A bowling tournament will be held Nov. 13, starting at 9 a.m. at Putters & Gutters Fun Center in Lampasas. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Fee is $100 per team, with a four-person team format to be used. Half the proceeds will go toward payouts for the first-, second- and third-place teams.

CEMETERY ASSOCIATIONS

OAK HILL CEMETERY ASSOCIATION The Oak Hill Cemetery Association will meet Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. in the mezzanine of the Jack Calvert Municipal Building, 302 E. Third St., for its annual membership and regular directors’ meetings. For more information, call 512-525-6085.

L-M Garden Club tours county museum

Lometa L-M Garden and Civic Club held its meeting Oct. 17 at Putters & Gutters Fun Center in Lampasas at 6 p.m. for a short business session and Dutch treat meal of pizza and beverages. About 13 club members were present. The meeting was called to order by club president Debbie Hicks.

Lampasas County Retired Teachers Association will meet Nov. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lampasas ISD board room, 207 W. Eighth St. Members are encouraged to bring a baked item for a silent auction/bake sale among the retirees during the meeting.

While many see Halloween as a relaxed night to justifiably gorge themselves in treats and sweets, I am here to tell you that All Hallow’s Eve night is the most physically demanding of all the holidays. First and foremost, prior to eating the candy, one must hunt it down.
