The Lady Badgers had been on a bit of a winning streak over the last couple of weeks, including a dominant tournament championship in San Antonio last week. They traveled to Rouse on Friday to take on the 5A Lady Raiders, who are now 9-8 on the year.

The Lampasas Middle School basketball teams went 8-0 against the Taylor Ducks on Thursday, with dominant wins by all eight teams. For the boys, the seventh-grade “B” team won 37-8, and the “A” team won 42-32.

The Badgers came up short in a comeback effort against the Jarrell Cougars in their game Tuesday night at home. Lampasas came out slowly and ended up in a 10-point hole at halftime.

The Badger wrestling team recently competed against Copperas Cove and Ellison, and in a tournament in Georgetown. Against Copperas Cove and Ellison, the standouts were Rylan Myers at 1-1, Daemian Rivas at 1-0, Jacob Miller at 1-1 and Hank Kielpinksi at 1-1.

The Lometa Hornets and Lady Hornets both saw success in their home basketball tournament last weekend. The boys’ team finished third, while the girls’ team was fourth after losing in the third-place game.

The Badgers went into the Salado basketball tournament over the weekend on the heels of a tough, two-point loss last week to Jarrell. The close losses continued in tournament play.

The Lady Badgers went 5-0 in the San Antonio Edgewood tournament and won the championship. Not only did they win every game, but the girls won by double digits in each of their five matchups.

With under a minute to go in the game, the Badgers were leading the Jarrell Cougars 62-57, and were on their way to closing out their fifth win of the season. The Cougars, however, went into a full-court pressure to force turnovers out of the Badgers, and the plan worked.

The Lady Badgers have fallen to 8-4 on the year after losing to the Copperas Cove Lady Bulldawgs on Tuesday at home. The final score was 57-48 – a nine-point loss against a talented 6A team.

The Lometa Hornets will host a basketball tournament this weekend, as the season is well underway across Texas. Both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are playing in this tournament that started Thursday and will continue action through Saturday.
