Jesse Granville McCoy Jr., 77, died July 1, 2021 in Abilene.
Visitation was July 5 at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. July 6 at Adamsville Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Hines Chapel Cemetery.
Jesse was born June 10, 1944 in Brady to Lois and Jesse McCoy Sr.
After the loss of his father in World War II, Jesse’s mother married Chester Beam of Mason, and their family grew to five boys. Jesse was the eldest, then Winston, Kenny, Chester and Lester.
According to many campfire stories told at the hunting camp, he led mischievous adventures in Central and West Texas with his brothers and friend Phillip Cates. Jesse married his high
Jesse married his high school sweetheart, Connie, on Sept. 6, 1966. They had one son, Shane, while in West Texas and then moved to south Louisiana, where Justin was born.
Jesse worked hard to provide for his family, to love God and serve others in need.
He and Connie had six grandchildren. They never tired of bragging about the grandkids and spent much of their retirement time traveling to be with them.
Jesse also will be remembered as that crazy uncle who loved to play and be involved in the outdoors with his nieces and nephews. He worked hard to keep the family in touch, meeting up regularly, and enjoying the life that a close-knit family can bring.
He was preceded in death by his brother Winston, and his wife of 50 years, Connie.
Jesse is survived by his brothers Kenny and wife Jill, Chester and wife Bobby, and Lester, who recently lost his wife Brenda; sons Shane and wife Kayla and their daughters Katlyn and Karena (expecting his first great-grandbaby in a few weeks), and Justin and wife Windy and their daughters Hadlea, Alayna and sons Greighson and Leighton; nephews and their spouses Chris and Lori Beam, Kevin and Heather Beam, Toby and Rhonda Wilson, Roy and Charla Stephens, Kyle and Becky Beam, Mark and Cassandra Mohler, Daulton and Liz Beam, Leslie Beam, Ryan and Brandy Smith, Kayla Beam, Jim and Jamie Kirk, Lee and Lee Durrett, Callie Sanders, and Michelle Champion; and cousins Johnny and Liz McCoy, Hal and Betty King, and Gracie Cockrell.
