Charlie Welch Boyce Sr., 92, of Lampasas died on May 16, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. May 22 at First Street Church of Christ, with a reception immediately following for all who want to attend.
Visitation will be May 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be private.
Charlie was born to the late Rueben Henry and Cordia Mae Mason Boyce on June 15, 1928 in Vansickle Community, Texas.
He graduated from Caddo Mills High School in 1946.
He married Juanna Lou Robinson on Nov. 2, 1947, and they lived together first in Dallas, then in Greenville for 28 years before relocating to Lampasas in 1975.
Charlie had a passion for hunting and shared that with all his family.
Over the years, he owned his own sheet metal businesses and after retiring from that, he went to work for the Lampasas ISD bus barn to support his passion for hunting, before he retired for a second time.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and spent many years in various roles such as deacon and elder, supporting the church.
The family requested memorial donations be made in support of Ciudad De Angeles in Cozumel Mexico, 5240 Roswell Road NE, Marietta, GA 30062, or to the charity of one’s choice.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Juanna; sisters Levelle Boyce Williams and husband Herbert, and Rachel Boyce Krodle and husband Pete; brother, Lloyd Boyc and wife Dickie; a grandson, Charlie “Chase” Boyce III; and a son-in-law, Steve Whicker.
Survivors include his four children, Luanne Boyce of Lampasas, Charlynn Boyce Whicker of Richardson, Charlie Boyce Jr. and wife Penny of Lampasas, and Jeannell Boyce Johnson and husband Les of Cozumel, Mexico; grandchildren Tanya Johnson of Fort Worth, Alexie Boyce Kibbe and husband Brian of Osteen, Florida, Adam Johnson of Bogata, Texas, and Tera Boyce Hall and husband Doug of Bedias, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
