Life-Saving Award presented

Lampasas Police Officer Jason Leamons has received the Life-Saving Award from the American Police Hall of Fame for his efforts to provide emergency first-aid after a domestic violence call.

Rain clouds on the horizon

Rain falls west of Lampasas, as seen from FM 580 on Tuesday. The pop-up storms across the area dropped temperatures to the low 70s in the afternoon, and rain totals neared one inch on the outskirts of Lometa. Residents in the Kempner area also reported a good rain was received.

School board in Lometa deals with new cell phone policy; classes to start Aug. 12

The Lometa City Council dealt with lease agreements during last week’s regular meeting.The meeting began with a surprise announcement during the open forum.District Clerk Edith Harrison presented the city with a check for $5,950.65.

Back to the classroom for students

Kline Whitis Elementary School students and parents were greeted with “Welcome back to school” signs on Friday to celebrate the first day of classes. All Lampasas ISD campuses are open for the start of the 2025-2026 term.

Enjoying a last splash for the summer

The city of Lampasas hosted a Back to School Bash and Movie Night at the Hanna Springs Swimming Pool last weekend. For the remainder of the month, the pool will be open on Saturdays and Sundays only, from noon to 5 p.m. before it closes for the year.
