The Lampasas City Council voted last week to approve the first reading of an ordinance to prevent registered sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of schools, parks and other specified places where children gather.

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court voted unanimously last week to create the framework for a new burn ban that can remain in effect until July 7, if necessary. At press time Monday, however, the burn ban was lifted until April 22 at 7 p.m.
