Parade marshal leads downtown procession

Lometa police chief placed on leave

Lometa city officials confirmed Friday the police chief has been put on administrative leave. Lometa Police Chief Melissa Cantu has been put on paid administrative leave as of the Nov. 13 City Council meeting.

The Christmas on the Creek committee has been hard at work gearing up for its annual event that transforms W.M. Brook Park into a winter wonderland full of holiday cheer and festive activities. Christmas on the Creek is planned for Dec. 9 from 5-8 p.m.

The Lometa L-M Garden and Civic Club held its annual Thanksgiving feast for members and guests Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. Food was provided by members, and good fellowship was enjoyed by the 36 in attendance.

Bridge players to meet before Christmas

The Community Bridge group met Nov. 13 in the fellowship hall at First Presbyterian Church. Six tables enjoyed the afternoon play, with Carolyn Anderson of Copperas Cove taking first place. Joe England was second, and Margaret Oberender came in third. No one won the slam prize.
