The Texas Department of Transportation is developing Connecting Texas 2050, the latest update to TxDOT’s statewide long-range transportation plan.
Development of Connecting Texas 2050 began in fall 2022 and will continue through spring 2024.
With the continued help of the community, TxDOT will establish the vision, objectives, performance measures and strategic recommendations for the state’s transportation system through the year 2050 for all modes. TxDOT will conduct a statewide virtual public meeting with local in-person open houses mid-October through mid-November.
An in-person meeting is scheduled tonight, Oct. 18 from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Carver Branch, Austin Public Library, Room 2 located at 1161 Angelina St. in Austin.
Another meeting will be held Oct. 19 from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Norris Conference Centers Pecan Room at 618 Northwest Loop 410, Suite 207 in San Antonio.
The next meeting will be held Oct. 24 from 4:30-6 p.m. at Mattie Lanier Richey Center located at 101 Sportsplex Drive in Atlanta, Texas. The same evening at the same time, another meeting will be held at the Ortiz International Center Nueces Room located at 402 Harbor Dr. in Corpus Christi.
Other in-person meeting options in Tyler, Brownwood, San Angelo and other communities are listed on the project page at txdot.gov, and more will be scheduled in the spring of 2024.
The virtual meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation and will include both audio and visual components. The presentation was posted online as of Oct. 17. Those without internet access may leave a message at 512-271-2025 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to ask questions and access planning materials during the transportation plan development process.
