Lampasas County will face another round of thunderstorms this morning, and flooding remains possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch that will remain effective through 1 a.m. Friday morning for Lampasas, Hamilton, Coryell, Bell and surrounding counties. NWS Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms over eastern Lampasas and Mills counties at 7:45 a.m., moving east at 40 mph.

Isolated rainfall totals of two to three inches are possible through Thursday evening.

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor-drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may become flooded,” NWS meteorologists said.

In addition to flooding, storms could produce winds of up to 40 miles per hour and half-inch sized hail.

Locations anticipated to be impacted are Copperas Cove, Lampasas, Kempner, Colorado Bend State Park, Lometa, Moline, Izoro, Rumley, Adamsville, Nix, and US 190 near The San Saba-Lampasas County line.
