Merk & Tilley’s writes its final chapter in Lampasas

Saturday marked the final day in business for Merk and Tilley’s along the Lampasas downtown square.Originally, owners Jo and John Williams planned to stay open through the Spring Ho Festival, but a busy Ladies Night on June 4 changed their plans.“It blew us away!

‘A Matter of Balance’ classes return

The award-winning program “A Matter of Balance” is returning to Lampasas. These classes will be held at the county annex building, 409 S. Pecan St., at no cost and with no age requirements.

Lampasas students earn scholarships via CTC Foundation

The Central Texas College Foundation awarded 252 scholarships totaling more than $601,000 during its 34th annual scholarship event, continuing its mission of making higher education accessible and affordable for students from all backgrounds.

Time or money. Those seem to be the choices we’re faced with whenever we have something done. I can mow the grass — time. Or, I can hire it done — money. It’s a pretty simplistic example, but most everything in our society follows this formula to some degree. I understand and accept this.

Lometa library secures LCRA grant for renovations

Grace Place on Main soon will repair the brick exterior of the 100-year-old building that houses the Lometa community library, thanks to a $4,800 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and Hamilton County Electric Cooperative.

Badger 42 Tournament set for June 12-13

Organizers have announced that the first Badger 42 Domino Tournament will take place Friday and Saturday at Putters & Futters Fun Center, 2341 U.S. Highway 281 South in Lampasas.They are hopeful the event can be held annually.

Lampasas Animal Shelter over capacity; offers free dog adoptions

The Lampasas Animal Shelter is looking to offload animals as the facility reaches full capacity, according to shelter Supervisor Kasey Schwartzer.As of Monday afternoon, the shelter had 50 dogs and 34 cats in its care. Ideally, the maximum the shelter can house is 15 dogs and 20 cats.
