Middle school girls’ basketball starts season with sweep of Lago Vista

The Lampasas Middle School Lady Badger basketball teams began their seasons with four wins over Lago Vista. The seventh-grade “A” team won 42-17.

Badgers season comes to an end after close battle with Somerset

The Badgers struggled in the second half again Friday night in the bi-district round of the playoffs. They were unable to score and one second half touchdown by the Bulldogs was enough for them to secure a 27-17 win and punch their ticket to the second round.

Freshman, junior varsity football seasons have come to an end

After successful seasons for both the freshman and junior varsity football teams, the Lampasas JV finished as district champs at 8-1-1 (4-0-1) with only one loss, and the freshmen went 7-3 (3-2). The junior varsity stat leaders were as follows.

The Badgers will take on Somerset in the first round of the playoffs tonight at 7:30 p.m. David Flores will lead the Badger offense against Somerset tonight.

SPORT BACKERS

The Lampasas flag will fly at least one more time in the bi-district round of the playoffs. Jett Walker has had a solid year as a freshman with the varsity team. He has a bright future with the Badgers.

Subvarsity teams finish the football season with games against Canyon Lake

The Badger junior varsity dominated the Hawks last Thursday night 36-16 on their way to an 8-1-1 record on the year and a district championship, coach Chance Evans said. The defense was led by sacks from Trenton Hobbs and Kolten Ball and an interception from Jackson Wright.

Hornets finish the season with a big win

Lometa football ended its season on a high note Friday night, defeating Santa Anna 58-40. The win was the Hornets’ second in a row and gave them a third-place finish in district play. Seniors who participated in fall sports were honored prior to the start of the game.

Tough second half leads to loss for the Badgers

Turnovers and struggles in the second half allowed the Canyon Lake Hawks back into a game the Badgers dominated for large portions. The eventual 34-30 loss came when the Hawks scored the game winning touchdown with under a minute to go and the Badgers couldn’t answer.
