Girls’ basketball goes 3-1 in San Antonio tournament

The Lady Badgers were in San Antonio last weekend for the Edgewood tournament. They started with a game against San Antonio Southside and won 5443. Lampasas was led in scoring by Jamie Ball, who finished with a career-high 18 points. Next, the girls played Young Women’s Leadership Academy.

In the Capital Classic at James Bowie High School on Nov. 18-19, Taylor Martell and Charlie Freese both earned fourth place, according to head wrestling coach Donovan Kleckner. Briana Pickett went 5-1, and Derrick Winfree went 4-2. “This was the Badgers' first outing this season,” Kleckner said.

The Lampasas boys’ basketball team hosted the Brady Bulldogs Tuesday night and despite a slow start, the Badgers ended up controlling the game and winning 86-60. The Badgers struggled with Brady’s full-court press early on, and they had low energy to start the contest.

The Badgers garnered 19 different all-district football honors for District 13-4A Division I in 2022. Seven were first-team designations, and 11 were second-team recognitions. On top of that, Raider Morua was named the district’s Newcomer of the year.

The Badgers spent Monday and Tuesday on the road playing two games before they took off the rest of the week for the Thanksgiving break. First, they went to Austin to play LASA. Lampasas came from behind and used a strong defensive fourth quarter to come out on top 53-50.

The Lady Badgers spent the week traveling to Elgin and Round Rock for their final two games before the Thanksgiving holiday. On Monday against Elgin, the Lady Badgers were dominant. They took the win 56-35.
