Tennis returns for Lometa Hornets

Lometa tennis is set for a competitive season under coach Frank Reyes III, who believes his athletes are capable of big things during the 2023 season. “We have a total of 14 kids participating in tennis this season,” Reyes said.

Badgers struggle with errors in loss to Burnet

Lampasas fell to 0-2 in district baseball play after losing to Burnet at home on Tuesday night. The 10-3 final score didn’t tell the whole story, as two innings filled with defensive mistakes by the Badgers led to eight total runs for Burnet.

Badgers and Lady Badgers finish soccer seasons

The two Badger soccer teams played their final games of the season last Friday, with the boys hosting Academy and the girls on the road playing the Lady Bees. The Badgers picked up a big win, 3-0, on Senior Night.

Lampasas track teams compete at Llano meet

The Badger and Lady Badger track teams traveled to Llano last week for their next track meet of the season, and both teams finished around the middle of the pack. The boys took sixth as a team, and the girls finished at eighth place. This was the third track meet of the season.

Powerlifters compete well at regional competition

The Badger boys competed in their regional powerlifting meet Saturday in Gatesville. There were seven competitors and three medalists for Lampasas. JJ Bowling finished fifth with a weight total of 1,170 pounds. Dailin Fagan finished fifth in his class with a weight total of 1,200 pounds.

Softball dominates Glen Rose in final game before district play

The Lady Badger softball team headed up the road to Glen Rose last Friday for the final non-district game of the season. The Lady Badgers will enter district play on the back of dominant wins. Lampasas won 14-3, scoring at least one run in every inning except the fifth.

Lady Badgers struggle in final home game against Salado

The Lampasas girls’ soccer team played its final home game of the season against the Salado Lady Eagles, and the scoreline was the same as the first time the two teams met. Salado won 6-0. Nyla Long was the standout performer in goal for Lampasas, as she made 25 saves.

The Badger baseball team started the district schedule Tuesday night with a road game against Marble Falls. Lampasas struggled to get the bats going and managed only one hit. That hit by JT Posten came in the seventh inning.
