Lometa’s varsity tennis teams brought home some impressive hardware last Wednesday, with numerous Hornets qualifying for the regional tournament. Lometa had performed well in large tournaments over the past month and continued the success at the district tournament in Brady.

The Lady Badger softball team struggled out of the gate on Friday against the Jarrell Lady Cougars, falling behind 4-0 early. They answered with five runs of their own to take the lead. The hits were highlighted by a basesloaded, bases-clearing triple from Aspen Wheeler.

Badgers give up late lead in loss to Marble Falls

The Badger baseball team played another solid game for five innings on the road against the Marble Falls Mustangs. However, the 7-3 lead Lampasas had built quickly evaporated after the Mustangs got hot at the plate in the final couple of innings.

Middle school track teams finish on podium at Burnet meet

The Lampasas Middle School track teams competed in Burnet last week, and both the boys’ and girls’ teams found success. The LMS seventh- and eighth-grade girls’ track teams each finished third – the seventh-graders with 76 points, and the eighthgraders with 87 points.

Tennis team sees success at recent competitions

The Lampasas tennis team traveled to Cedar Park and Killeen over the last two weeks, and they have played some solid tennis. The tournament in Cedar Park included 23 teams of Austin-area schools that all, except Lampasas and Burnet, compete in Conference 5A and 6A divisions.

Lady Badgers lose tough extra-innings game to Gateway

The Lady Badger softball team played a hard-fought, nine-inning game Tuesday night against Gateway, but they gave up a walk-off run to lose 5-4. After Gateway put up three runs in the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Badgers responded with three of their own in the top of the third.

Girls’ golf team cleans up at district tournament

The Lady Badgers sent two golf teams to compete at the district tournament in Kingsland on Monday and Tuesday. Their teams took both first and second place. The Lampasas No. 1 team took shot 354 on the first day and 370 on day two for a two-day team total of 724.
