Capt. Jones

Capt. Robert “Bob” Drake Jones (U.S. Navy, retired), age 82, died on Nov. 26, 2024 after a multi-year struggle with Lewy Body Dementia in Sugar Land.Bob was born on Dec. 12, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana. As an Army brat, he traveled extensively, including to Japan during the Occupation.

Mr. Finnell

Edward Finnell Jr., 80, died on Nov. 26, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in Houston.Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Dec. 7 at 11 a.m., with visitation an hour prior.

Mrs. Burton

Donna A. Burton, 86, died on Nov. 17, 2024 at her residence in Lampasas.A memorial service was held at Naruna Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Nov. 21.

Mr. Jones

Michael Ray Jones, age 60, died on Nov. 17, 2024, at Seton Hospital in Austin.He was born on Dec. 11, 1963, in Houston to Don and Kay Fowler Jones.Michael grew up in Bryan and Lampasas.

Mr. Raines

Richard “Rusty/Russ” Russell Raines Jr., 78, died on Nov. 12, 2024, at his home in Lampasas.

Mr. Smith

Derek Lynn Smith was born June 11, 1976, in Austin to Vaughn and Vicki Smith. He died on Nov. 15, 2024, surrounded by his family.Derek attended schools in South Austin before moving to Dripping Springs in 1988 with his parents.

Service for Marquette Meyer set for Tuesday morning

Funeral services for business owner Marquette Meyer will take place Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. at Lampasas Community Church, with visitation to begin at 10 a.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a later time.

Mrs. Sunberg

After a long battle with liver cancer, Maria Aurora Sunberg, 70, of Lampasas died on Nov. 13, 2024.She was known by many as Mamie, but to those closest to her she was Beaner, Mom, Honey, Sis, Tia, Grandma and Friend.

Shanna Shinelle Adams Drinkard of McLouth, Kansas, died suddenly on July 13, 2024, at the age of 41.She was born May 12, 1983, in Abilene, Texas.
