FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH TO HOLD CHRISTMAS CANTATA
First Methodist Church will host its 73rd annual Community Christmas Cantata Dec. 13 featuring proprietary renditions of classic carols.
Volunteers from churches throughout Lampasas will sing and play instruments, including a trumpet and cello and the church’s new organ. The performance will feature hand-chime and bell groups.
Performers will read parts of the nativity story between movements.
Music Director Jeremy Knight said he looks forward to his third time directing the performance and is especially glad to be able to share it with the community despite the COVID-19 restrictions that are in place.
The church will hold two performances this year, at 4 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. Only 100 audience members will be admitted to each performance, and those interested in attending must call the church office at 512-556-5513 to reserve free tickets.
Seating will be spaced appropriately, and the church will provide hand sanitizer. Those who attend are encouraged to wear face coverings.
First United Methodist Church will livestream the performance on its website and Facebook page.
Knight said he enjoys working with other churches to organize the performance.
“This event is special in that it invites churches to come together and pool resources and talent to put on a meaningful show around Christmastime,” he said.
