Town hall focuses on ice storm

206 hours. That was the total time Texas faced the February 2021 winter storm that plunged large areas of the state into subfreezing temperatures and exhausted the electrical infrastructure, causing massive power and water outages. Lampasas County residents were among the millions affected.

Microburst causes severe damage in Burnet County

Lampasas dodged the worst of Monday and Tuesday’s severe weather, while Burnet County took a harder hit from storm winds. Prominent buildings in Bertram were leveled by winds that peaked around 75 mph, according to National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist Paul Yura.

Natural gas rates might increase in June

The city of Lampasas approved a 45-day hold to investigate whether a gas provider rate increase proposal is authorized under state law. The vote came during Monday’s regular council meeting.

FOOD PANTRY St. Mary Catholic Church will hold a drive-through food distribution March 26 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The food pantry will offer large bags of non-perishable canned and boxed groceries, and it plans to have eggs, meat, bread and produce available as well.

After coming within one out of a loss, Lampasas scored seven unanswered runs in the seventh inning to beat Glen Rose 12-7 in district baseball on Tuesday. Ace Whitehead batted 3-4 with a triple, a walk, three runs scored and a 3-RBI double in the seventh inning.

During his Lampasas County Commissioners Court update Monday about the new county law enforcement center, Sheriff Jess Ramos said his department needs more manpower. Ramos said with more space at the new jail, more detention officers are needed.

Commissioners Court resolution opposes anti-lobbying bills proposed by state legislatures

The Lampasas County Commissioners on Monday unanimously approved a resolution opposing Texas Senate Bill 234 and House Bill 749, which would prohibit taxpayer funds from being used to join and support nonprofit county associations that provide communication to state legislators.
